ENFUSE: Safer Student Communities
A Depth-Core Product developed in partnership with Surrey Safe Schools and the Surrey RCMP
The Success
Each case where intervention prevented a harmful or dangerous situation is testament to the success of the site.
- The success of Protecting Schools Together in Surrey has been exceptional. Although the site is not going to be marketed until Fall 2005, there have already been many tips coming through. Since its launch in the beginning of April 2005 there have been thirty-four valid tips that came into the system.
- The types of tips that students submit vary. There was a tip about a fight that was going to happen, and the name of a student known to carry a knife that was going to participate. The RCMP was able to be on site and prevent the fight from occurring. The most common type of tip is about bullying at the elementary school level. There have also been tips about vandalism, substance abuse, stolen property, violent threats, and many other topics.
- One particular tip that came through provided enough information to the Surrey RCMP so that they could arrest and imprison three high school students that were selling drugs to elementary school students.
