ENFUSE: Safer Student Communities
A Depth-Core Product developed in partnership with Surrey Safe Schools and the Surrey RCMP
Depth-Core Web Solutions Role
Depth-Core Web Solutions is passionate about the concept of promoting safer school communities and hopes to bring the concept to other school districts as successfully as it has been done in Surrey
- As previous students of Delta, Surrey, and Coquitlam we are excited about this project and we can't wait to see the impact it is going to have on these school districts and across BC. Since we are young ourselves we understand the needs of high school and elementary school students and how to connect with them.
- We strive to understand the students that will be visiting the site, and view them as users and an audience. We have conducted research on what appeals to this type of user. Visuals, content, and interactivity all play a part in making the site effective.
- When School District 36 (Surrey) came to us with the idea to make a website to create community for its students and receive tips from them about the safety of their schools we were thrilled with the idea. It was one in which we took a personal interest and one for which we were well equipped to complete.
- Depth-Core Web Solutions has been in business since 2003. The three members of the company are recent graduates from Simon Fraser University Surrey in Information Technology (Software Engineering) and Interactive Arts. We have an extensive portfolio of work including the following projects:
- Protecting Surrey Schools Together (http://www.psst-bc.ca/)
- Youth Visions Art Partnership Program (http://www.youthvisions.ca/)
For an additional sampling of our work, please visit our portfolio at http://www.depth-core.com/portfolio/ - We would like to emphasize that Depth-Core was created, built, and maintained while the members of this company were still early in their university years. During this time a collective amount of experience was gathered, and Depth-Core is no stranger to the standard industry business practices. Under high pressure, and tight deadlines the business process and methodology in dealing with projects and clients was refined.
- We take a role that is impartial to both the school district and the RCMP. Our role is to understand what students are interested in seeing on a web site and what makes them feel comfortable and combine that with input from your School District and the RCMP. The result is a web site that students love to visit and that exceeds the expectations of the school district.
